Importing an identity

Ross Langmead

I'm changing laptops (both are PowerBooks, one using OS 10.2.8 and
the other 10.3.3, both using Entourage v. X) and can't successfully
import my old Entourage identity.

I've moved the "Main Identity" folder from my old machine to Ross/
Documents/Microsoft User Data/Office X Identities, but I get the
message "Could not change to that identity. Access permission is
denied".

I have Administator status. I've repaired disk permissions. I've installed
Office Updates.

What can I do next?

Thanks,

Ross

My first guess would be that the message is telling you the truth - that
you don't have the necessary permissions for that folder and the things
in it. Since you are the admin, you can fix this. Make the user
(yourself, presumably) the owner and give read/write access to all the
files and folders involved. m.
