Importing "category"???

Why is it when importing that there is no listing for "category"??

Category is one of the most important fields of a database and when I
import I do not see any selection for category.

Importing what? If you're importing individual vCards, for example, there's
no category since category is a proprietary thing of MS and vCards are an
industry-wide standard that don't have such a thing as a category.

If you mean when importing contacts from a tab-delimited text file, where it
seems off that there's no field for Category, you're right - it's odd it's
not included. My guess as to why is that this feature was brought over from
Outlook Express 5 which didn't have categories, and it would be a little
complicated to implement since Entourage items can have more than one
category, so they just never got around to it.

However, you can import contacts - and also calendar events, tasks, notes
and groups - WITH categories - from tab text files using my shareware
scripts Export-Import Entourage X from

It can even do multiple categories - there are some converter scripts for
dealing with unorthodox export types which have separate fields for each
category.
