Importing contacts from OS X's Address book into Entourage'sAddress book

P

Philip Seth

I'm not having any success with importing my contacts from OS X's Address
Book to Entourage's Address Book.

In OS X's Address Book Preferences the default Vcard version (3.0) is
selected.

When I choose "Import" in Entourage, I choose to import information from a
text file. I next choose to Import contacts from a tab- or comma- delimited
text file. When I then go to choose the file to import from the drop-down
menu I am told that the exported Vcard/s are not compatible or something to
that effect.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks,

Philip.

Well, the vCards aren't a text file, so that's why that method doesn't work.
There are two alternatives:

1) Try just dragging the vCards file you exported from your desktop into
Entourage's Address Book. That should import all the vCards.

2) You may find that there's missing or misplaced data (wrong fields) by
method 1, especially if you use less common fields. You can do a
100%-faithful import with my script "Sync Entourage-Address Book". A
one-time import using the Panther version is free (Jaguar version you'd need
"Limited Mode"). You can find it at
