Importing Contacts into Address Book

I have installed Entourage 11.2.3 on a new iMac and would like to add
my contacts list from Apple's Address Book to Entourage's Address Book,
as to write them in manually would take several hours as I have over
200 contacts listed.

Is this a possibility ? I am on an Exchange server network and even
tried to import my contacts from Outlook from the PC that I used to
use, but failed there too as I couldn't find a way of converting the
Contacts List to a tab delineated format. :eek:/

Surely Entourage could be programmed to accept Vcards ?????? This
would make things so much easier.

Is there a way I can transfer my contacts list easily into Entourage ?
I have checked all the Mactopia help sheets, and none of their
suggestions work.

You can simply select all your contacts in Address Book and then drag them
into Entourage's address book. You might lose some contact fields that way,
though; if you're really worried about that possibility, you could use Paul
Berkowitz's shareware Export-Import Entourage, a collection of AppleScripts
that take care of the import process.

Have you tried Preferences > Sync Services > Sync with Address Book and
..Mac?

I used this function and successfully imported all my Address Book contacts
to Entourage. I also had trouble getting Outlook contacts imported
correctly, but the Address Book ones are great.

Hi Anton,

glad I could help. You should actually have a look at Patti's solution if
you intend to use Apple's Address Book alongside Entourage. The new Sync
Services do not only work if you have .mac; if you enable this new feature,
you will have the same contacts in both applications, which may or may not
be useful to you, depending on how you use your computer. You can read some
more about it in Entourage's help (search for "Sync Services").
