Importing Custom WBS Format

I have inherited a pre-existing project that I need to change the WBS format
on to match the contract SOW deliverables. Unfortunately, the numbers are
not totally sequencial (See below).
01.01
01.01.07
01.01.07.01
01.01.07.01.01
01.01.07.01.02
01.01.07.01.03
01.01.07.01.04
01.01.07.01.05
01.01.07.01.06
01.01.07.01.07
01.01.07.01.08
01.01.07.07
01.01.07.07.01
01.01.07.07.02
01.01.07.07.03
01.01.07.08
01.01.07.08.01
01.02
01.02.07
01.02.07.01
01.02.07.01.01
01.02.07.02
01.02.07.02.01
01.02.07.02.02
01.02.07.03
01.02.07.03.01
01.02.07.04
01.02.07.05
01.02.07.05.01
01.02.07.06
01.02.07.06.01
01.02.07.06.02
01.02.07.07
01.02.07.08
01.02.07.08.01
01.02.07.09
01.02.07.09.01
01.02.07.09.02
01.02.07.09.03
01.02.07.10
01.02.07.10.01
01.02.07.10.02
01.02.07.11
01.02.07.12
01.02.07.13
01.02.07.13.01
01.03
01.03.07
01.04
Etc

Is there a way to import the numbers at the roll-up level and have project
automatically populate the holes in between? Also if I link roll up lines
from separate sub-projects, will the sub-projects intern automatically
re-number themselves. I am also having problems importing the numbering
scheme into the notes mask. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Unfortunately, I don't know any way to do this. You might have to start over,
but please wait for other responses on this. There could be a workaround.

Project/WBS/Define Code
Enter somethign in the top box such as numeric.
Make sure the bottom two check boxes are selected to automatically generate
new codes on new tasks that are unique. Click OK.

Go to a short level of indenture say level 3: 1.4.6
Suppose you want that to be 1.5 and subordinates will be 1.5.1, 1.5.2,
1.5.2.1 etc.
Key in the high level as 1.5. Then highlight the subodinates. Click
Project/WBS/Renumber. It works the same way if you want 1.4.6 to become
1.2.3.4.5.6 and subordinates.

It will take some work, but you can get it done. The only way around
sequential numbering is to perform this task on sections at a time.

As an aside, renumbering your WBS to SOW type numbering after baselining
your program could cause reporting problems.

It will work to increase or decrease the level of indenture
