I have been using the bundled Mail, AddressBook, and iCal programmes on
my Power Book. They all work fine. Now I would like to import information
from those programmes into Entourage 2004. How do I do it?

Mail: Go to File -> Import, and select "Import information from a program."
Click the "Next" button, and then select "Apple Mail." Choose to import
whatever data you wish, and click the "Next" button to start importing.

Address Book:
Option 1 (best way): Use Paul Berkowitz's "Sync Entourage-Address Book"
script to synchronize your addresses.

Option 2: Drag contacts from Address Book to the Desktop, and then drag
them into the Entourage Address Book window.

iCal: Use Paul Berkowitz's "Sync Entourage-iCal" script (Requires Panther).

tried to follow your instructions for importing from Mail, but there is no
"Apple Mail" option for me to select. I am running Entourage X 10.1.4.
There are 9 programs to choose from, but none of them Apple Mail. I tried
using the Import From Mail script program included on Office v.X install
disc, but that resulted in error message that reads 'can't make name of alias
"Joe:Library:Mail:" into a unicode text.-1700'.

any thoughts?

The option for Apple Mail in the Import engine was added in Entourage 2004.

Try installing the Import from Mail script from the Value Pack installer,
and then re-applying the Office X 10.1.2, 10.1.4, and 10.1.5 updates. One
of those has a critical update for the Import from Mail script.

You might need to remove Office X, re-install the software including the
script, and then re-apply updates for it to work, but I don't think that
will be necessary.
