Importing from Excel to Outlook

What is the maximum number of fields allowed during an
import from Excel to Outlook? (*I got a "too many fields
defined" error message)

I have approximately 300 records and only 9 fields:
first_name, last_name, suffix, company, dept, addr, city,
state, zip.

What version of Outlook?

Have you tried selecting the Map Custom Fileds option in the import Wizard?
Otherwise, I believe Outlook's translator looks for

FirstName, LastName, BusinessStreet (or HomeStreet), BusinessCity (or
HomeCity), BusinessState (or HomeState), and BusinessPostalCode (or
HomePostalCode)

as the field names (column headings) in the source file.
