Importing mail from Mail 2.0 (TIGER) to Entourage 2004

I am running Tiger on my G5 and decided to use Entourage instead of
Mail 2.0 that comes with Tiger. When I went through the initial setup
of Entourage and told it to import my email and mailboxes into
Entourage 2004 from Mail 2.0, it did not import all my inbox mail
mesasges and did not import any of my mailboxes. Is there any way that

I can get all my information from Mail 2.0 to Entourage 2004? Right
now I'm stuck using Mail 2.0 until I figure out a way to get everything

imported into Entourage 2004. By the way, dragging and dropping the
mailboxes from Mail to Entourage will not work. Are there any new
import/export scripts out there for this?

Thanks in advance.

I'm not aware of anyone publishing any new scripts yet, but it should be
possible.

Howveer, Mail.app defaulted to using IMAP whenever it coould. If your mail
account is IMAP, you only need to set entourage to point to the same server
and all the mail on the server will be synced to entourage - that's the
whole point of IMAP.

Once you have set up an IMAP account in entourage pointing to the same
servers as your mail.app account, you may need to select the account server
icon in the folder listing of a mail window, then select each folder that
appears in the right hand pane, and click on the 'subscribe' button on the
toolbar. Then, as you visit each folder, the mail will be loaded up into
entourage.

Unfortunately I'm using POP mail not IMAP. Any ideas on what I can do
to get my email imported from Mail 2.0 to Entourage 2004?

Thanks!

While I do not yet have Mail 2.0 (TIGER) and know its features, for the
short term my proposal is as follows:

1. In addition to the POP account in Mail 2.0, create a second account
-- an IMAP one -- in Mail.

2. In the Mail's new IMAP account, create a set of empty mailboxes with
the same names as the mailboxes in the POP account.

3. Copy the contents of each POP Mail mailbox and paste it into the
IMAP Mail mailbox (of the same name).

4. Startup Entourage 2004 and create a set of empty email folders with
the same names as the mailboxes in the POP Mail account.

5. Next create a second account in Entourage -- an IMAP one. In the
Entourage's new IMAP account, all of Mail's mailboxes should show up as
Entourage folders. If you look in these folders, you will see all the
messages that are in Mail's IMAP account mailboxes. Actually, you
might use Barry's suggestion:

"...select the account server icon in the folder listing of a mail
window, then select each folder that appears in the right hand pane,
and click on the 'subscribe' button on the toolbar. Then, as you visit
each folder, the mail will be loaded up into entourage."

6. The final step is to copy (or move) the contents of each IMAP
Entourage folder and paste into the respective POP Entourage folder.

Once you've succeeded in moving email in this fashion, you may want to
delete the IMAP accounts in both Mail and Entourage. There is no
problem keeping 2 accounts, but if you don't use the IMAP one, I'd
clean up the window by deleting the second account.

As you can see, this process is very tedious. It takes a lot of time
and attention. You may want to wait and continue to use Mail 2.0 until
someone makes conversion scripts that export/import correctly every
time between these two email clients.

You may also try repeating importation of email from Mail 2.0 using
Entourage's built-in import function. I've found that some times on a
second try, the process will work correctly.
