Importing mail into Entourage 2004

Jill

I currently have 2 email accounts set up in Entourage 2004. One
account is a personal POP email account and the other is an Exchange
account for work - https. I can see and use them from the same
Entourage window. The POP account took the place of the default "my
computer" account and the work/Exchange account is below it. I have
installed Entourage on the new computer, set up my work account and
synched with our Exchange server and all work email has downloaded
fine. My question is, can I export the POP email from my old computer
and import it into Entourage without it overwriting anything? Will it
know that it needs to be stored in that default account? Should I set
up the account with all its POP settings before I import it in?

Simply drag the local folders which contain mail messages to your desktop.
You will get individual .mbox files, which you can then transfer to your new
Mac (via flash drive, CD, etc.). Drag these .mbox files into Entourage's
folder list, and they should show up in there. If you now want to have all
these messages in your standard Inbox folder (or Sent Items folder etc.),
open the imported folder(s), select all the messages (Edit>Select All, or
Cmd+A) and drag them into the folders where you want them to be.

Simply move over the Microsoft User Data folder. See these tips:
