importing old contact list

Help! I've changed hard drives. Need to know how to find
and import my old contact list to my new drive.

Look for your Outlook Data File (PST file). Open it in the new installation.
Do not import it.

I searched my computer for *.pst and came up empty. Is that possible?

Not if you were using Outlook without Exchange Server.
Did you search for hidden files?

All Outlook data is in a single file. The file you need is your Personal
Folders file (*.pst) It's where all the mail, calendar, contacts etc are
stored.
