Importing .PST file from Outlook 2003 on Windows

Mike

Switching over from Windows XP, Outlook 2k3. I have the .pst file with
everything in it, contacts, calendar, email.

Can this be imported into entourage?

That's too bad. It's a bit of a pain, but migrating data "through" an
Exchange Server works.

I do not think there is a good way of moving e-mails from a Windows .pst
file to Entourage 2004. Unless you can push your e-mail up onto the POP3
server using IMAP or something, then pull it down with Entourage.

Sorry.

That is really too bad that there is no way to do it.

What about my calendar and contacts from Outlook. Is there anyway to import
those into Entourage?

Wow, that is going to make my life horrible!

Do you know if Outlook on the Mac would import the data?

I think it should... It sure imports PSTs created on a Mac through Outlook
2001.

Nothing but Outlook can read .pst files.

Get my scripts "Export-Import Entourage X" from

MacScripter.net <http://macscripter.net/scriptbuilders/>

The Outlook section of the ReadMe explains how to export messages via either
an IMAP account (best) or via Eudora Windows. The scripts are there to
import contacts, calendar, tasks and notes.

But first of all, you need to borrow a friend's copy of Outlook Windows if
you no longer have access to your own Outlook on Windows yourself. Have him
or her make you a temporary Outlook profile. Import the .pst file(s). Then
follow the instructions in the ReadMe for exporting everything as .csv, and
messages via IMAP or Eudora.

Thanks! I will try it out.

Does Entourage have the ability to export a file similar to a .pst that will
back everything up?

No, but there is an identity folder that you can back up by copying it to
another drive. That will back up all Entourage data. The folder you're
looking for is
~/Documents/Microsoft User Data/Office 2004 Identities/<Your Identity>/

("~" = HD/Users/<Your User>/)

(Replace 2004 with X if you will be using Office X.)
