In PowerPoint, how can I see all columns of my Excel object?

In PowerPoint 2000, I'm trying to paste in an Excel spreadsheet with many
columns. When I paste it, however, I can't see all the columns from my
spreadsheet. So, I double click on the object and expand the width of the
object to make more columns visible. But, once I exit editing the Excel
object and return to PowerPoint, instead of showing the extra columns the
columns that were showing before just get stretched wider.

My only solution to this is to paste the Excel worksheet as a bitmap, which
will allow all columns to be visible, but obviously loses the benefits of
being able to edit the data without going back to the source Excel file.
