In Word, a simple disablement of fancy features

Word used to be ideal for a user with my very limited IT savvy. Now, it is
full of features which I will never use but which often intrude and impede my
use of the program.
eg: each time that I open word I get a message about Macro's, which seem to
stem from a trial use of WinFax. Even though Winfax has long since been
uninstalled.

This is not a "feature." It reflects the fact that you still have WinFax's
add-in (WinfW2k.dot) in the Word or Office Startup folder. You will continue
to get the message until you remove it. For the rest, see
