Inability to download HTML addresses contained in e-mails

I'm having this problem lately: Whenever e-mails that I
open with Microsoft Outlook contain HTML (Web) addresses
in the e-mail message, I am unable to bring those Web
pages up by the usual manner-- double-clicking the URL
name with my mouse.

Microsoft Internet Explorer opens but only a blank page.

If I copy the URL name (using Control-C) and then paste it
into Internet Explorer (using Control-V), the page will
open -- but that requires several extra steps, one of
which is to have the browser already open.

Anyone have any thoughts on how to resolve this problem?
Thanks.
