INbox 4000 Unread Since Rebuild

Hi,

After doing a typical rebuild of my 1.5 GB database (Office version
10.1.7; POP email) I hit Send & Receive and received ~ 4000 unread
emails. Random checks revealed that they are duplicates of emails in
folders. However, I haven't checked every one so I'm not comfortable
deleting them all. Since I backed up my Microsoft User Folder prior to
doing the rebuild I tried quiting all Office apps, copying back that
folder to the documents folder and re-opening Entourage. No luck.
Suggestions? Is there a 'find duplicates' script for Entourage? Other
ideas?

Yes, that will happen to a pop account after a rebuild, when you have 'leave
mail on server' checked.

The POP protocol is really designed to have the mail deleted after
collection, and any fudge to make it work differently is bound to break down
sooner or later. During the rebuild Entourage loses the pointers to which
messages have already been retrieved, so you get the whole bunch again.

I have a 'remove duplicates' script available here:
