inbox showing a new message, and it is not in unread

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) Processor: Intel Email Client: pop I have a new message somewhere under "Today", but can't find it. hitting unread messages can't find anything. I opened and re-opened all the emails today, but still there is a new email registering as unread. Please help! Thanks
