Re: incoming mail from my .mac account goes to deleted itemsI'm sure it's some setting you have to tweak something in your outgoing server settings. Play around with it. I can't remember what my settings had to be. It's been years since I had a .mac account, but it will work. Click on the Click here for advanced sending options and try the SMTP server requires authentication. Usually, you use the Use same settins as your receiving mail server.
Perhaps someone else here who actually has a .mac account can verify this?
As for your folders, yes they will not be used anymore. That is what IMAP is for. If you need that type of use then go back to using IMAP. You can however, create folders nested within your Inbox, and create rules to move them there, or just move them yourself.
Fo rmyself, I have about 25 separate folders within my Inbox. Some folders have subfolders within them, i.e. Inbox>Software>Macromedia>Dreamweaver. I just manually move any pertinent mail into them so that my inbox is always "clean." If it is sitting in my Inbox, I have to read and either move or delete it.

I changed it to a pop account. Now my folder sare not being used and I can't send mail.
Sounds like you have Entourage set up as an IMAP client for your ..mac account. Or maybe you have the option to leave on server until you delete it. Try creating your account as a POP account.

I have gone into account settings and alternated between mark mail as deleted and move deleted mail to deleted items folder. When I choose mark as deleted it will show up in my inbox with a line through it and then I have to "undelete" it to do anything. Is there a way to deactivate this? I am at a loss.
