INDIRECT function

Good day. I am using Excel 2002. I have several
workbooks that interact with each other. I was told a
couple days ago about the INDIRECT function. It has been
working fine until tonight.

Does the target workbook need to be open for INDIRECT to
work? In all of my work so far, I guess I must have had
the target workbook open when I created my formulas using
INDIRECT. Tonight I tried it with the target closed and
got a REF error. After opening the target, the function
worked, even after closing the target. If I changed to a
different cell and then back, it would break again.

yes INDIRECT requieres the workbook to be opened. See
