indirect function

Does anyone know a way that I can use the indirect funtion to define a range
within the sum function?

you ned to be a little bit more specific what you're trying to do. In
general this is no problem

=ADDRESS(2,1,1,1,"W:\Forecast\Dashboard\"&MID(B2,6,4)&"\["&LEFT(B2,9)&"
Upshot Download Deals Report.xls]Weekly Backlog Deal Report 04'!")

The above formula defines a single cell.

I want to implant it into =sum() and have it use that cell as the starting
point and use cell a23 as the endpoint of the range.
