Inline frames and background picture

B

Brian Larson

In an earlier post I asked about how to create the scrolling text like at
the following site.
www.powerfacemusic.com/main_frameset.htm

I received an excellent idea from that posting to use an inline frame, and I
am almost there with that. The problem I'm having is how to fix the
background image so the text scrolls over it. When I insert my image, I have
two problems, 1. it scrolls with the text and 2. the image repeats itself.
Frontpage help says to make it a watermark and the text will scroll over it
but that doesn't work I seem to recall seeing an answer here regarding the
repeating background image, but can't seem to find that now. I am using FP
2003
and also using a theme.

Can anyone offer some help on this?
Thanks in advance
Brian

Hi Brian,

I'd suggest a static div for this - jsut because it's easier than an iframe,
eg
<style type="text/css">
#scroller{
height:150px;
width:200px;
background: url(picture.gif) fixed center no-repeat;
overflow:auto;
}
</style>
<body>
<div id="scroller">lots of scrolling text......</text>

Needless to say NN4 will get this wrong(all the text will display without
scrollbars but at least it's readable) - NN4 doesn't support iframes
atall.......

Thanks for responding. I have tried to use a watermark but this doesn't work
either. As I mentioned I'm using a theme and I found a response to another
post (tried to find it so I could paste it in here but couldn't) that said
something about having to modify the theme under graphics, borders and
shading and telling it not to repeat (that's the other problem, the picture
repeats), use a watermark, fixed etc. in order for this to work. If you know
more about this, could you please share a little detail about this? I would
really appreciate it.
Thanks
Brian

To get a thenme to watermark, Modify the Theme to add the "watermark" style:
Format | Theme | Modify | Text - select More Text Styles
Select the body tag and then Modify | Border | Shading and select
Repeat - select no-repeat
Attachment - select fixed
Vertical Position - select center
Horizontal Position - select center
OK|OK|OK|OK & Save As a new theme name

When you change a Theme like this does it just add the ability to watermark
if you want to, or does it affect every page in the site. I just want to add
a watermaked picture behind the text in my inline frame, not on every page.

Stefan B Rusynko

All pages using a theme are affected
Use a different or custom version of the theme for just that page

How would you use a custom version of a theme for just 1 page? I'm using
FP2003.
