Inserted images, save as option only .bmp

I've seen questions similar to the one I'm about to ask, but the answer didn't seem to apply to my situation... I use Windows XP and Outlook 2000. I get an email that has an image inserted in the body of the mail, and if I want to save that image (not an attachment) to my hard drive, I know I right-click and "save picture as" and the only option I get is a bitmap ".bmp" option.

I have gone to >control panel >internet options >general tab >etc. I have cleaned out the temp file and cookies and nothing works. This does not happen in Outlook Express, just Outlook.

I see this question come up in other discussion groups, but never see an answer that works.
