Inserted objects keep disappearing

Here's the situation: Using Office XP SP2 Powerpoint, I
insert a clipart or draw a shape on a new blank slide. Then
I insert slide #2. When I switch the view back to slide #1
my inserted clipart or shape is not visible. It is still
there, and if you click where it used to be the object
handles appear, but there is still no image. The only way
to make it show up again is to right-click where the object
was, click on Order from the pop-up menu,and pick "bring to
front" As soon as I switch to a new slide then look back at
#1 again, the object is once again not visible. What is
going on here??

I'd suspect video drivers.

First try changing hardware acceleration.

If that doesn't do it, try updating your video drivers.
