Inserting hyperlinks in an e-mail

I've got the HTML formatting option on, but I can't figure out how to
insert a working hyperlink in my e-mail that I'm composing.

Ideally, i'd like the text in the e-mail to say "The Egg" but the link
underneath would be "http://www.theegg.com". Is this possible?

Thanks,
kristin

ps thanks to the folks in this group who answered my questions about
user identity a week or so ago. very helpful.

Hi everyone,

there is currently no way of inserting a live hyperlink into an Entourage
message, at least no convenient or straightforward way. You can always
insert the URL, with the http:// prefix, and most email clients should
automatically convert them to active hyperlinks. However, this solution does
not exactly do what the OP and so many other users, myself included, want.

An alternative, if you are using Entourage 2004, would be to use Word 2004
to compose your email message: in Word, you can easily create hyperlinks
(select some text, then hit Cmd+K). If Entourage is configured as your
default email client, you can, when you're done, go to File>Send To>Mail
Recipient (as HTML) (this is still in Word, by the way). The downside to
this method is that once the document has been passed on to Entourage, you
can no longer modify it, or add attachments to it.

So generally speaking, follow Eric's advice and use Paul Berkowitz' script;
it's indeed the best solution there is for the time being, and it's free.

Note that you can click on Help>Send Feedback on Entourage inside Entourage
to be redirected to Microsoft's feedback page. Let them know that you want
this feature; the more users there are who request it, the likelier it is to
be in the next version of Office.

Kristin,

Just type the link like you did in your example above. The link will be
"transformed" into a real link when it is received on the other end. In
addition, the mail in the Sent Items will now have a clickable link.

You can see the links if you save as draft and then view the mail.

Hope this helps.
