Inserting Hyperlinks

When I bring up the "Insert Hyperlink" dialogue box, there are lots of
"ghost" files listed there. They are confusing and annoying. How do I get
rid of them?

I am new and just practicing, and so far I've just published to the "My
Webs" folder. In an attempt to get rid of old pages, I opened the "My Webs"
folder and deleted all the pages in it.
In fact, I deleted everything but the 6 folders:

_derived
_fpclass
_private
_themes
_vti_cnf
_vti_pvt
_images

Didn't help. When I start over with a single new page and try to insert a
hyperlink I still have several
"New_Page_1"
"New_Page_2"
"New_Index"
etc.
items listed (which no longer exist) in the Hyperlink Dialogue Box.

Please help.

Sorry to bother you again, Steve, but sometimes the
"Recalculate Links" button is grayed out so I can't use it,
even though I have "ghost" links in the dialogue box.
How can I make the Recalculate button active?
