Can I insert symbols, such as § and ¶, into the text body
of an email by using a shortcut? I was able to do this in
Outlook for Windows by selecting Word as my email editor,
but this option does not seem available in Entourage X. I
notice the new Entourage in Office 2004 allows this. I use
Entourage 10.1.4 on Mac OS 10.2.8.
What could possibly be shorter than typing option-6 or option-7. which is
how you type those symbols on the Mac, in all fonts, in any application?
To see which characters are immediately typeable using option and
shift-option keys, go to System Preferences/International/Input Menu, and
check Keyboard Viewer in the list. (While you're there, also check Character
Palette).
That puts an Input menu into the menu bar, showing a US - or whatever system
language you use. Click and select Show Keyboard Viewer, Now press Option
key, then Shift and Option keys, to see which characters are available for
your current keyboard and font settings.
