Install errors out

Ok read about how wonderful and easy Ubuntu was in the Vista group so I
thought what the hey it's raining and I have an extra computer to play
with. I'll load it up. I had already downloaded and burnt the CD. I even
used the recommended CD burning software Infra. Boot to the CD and get
the splash screen and picked Start or Install. A window comes up that
says Loading Linux Kernel It stops at 4%. Then I get a prompt for reboot
Error message says Disk error 80, AX=4280 drive 9F. So I try my other PC
same thing. Went to the Ubuntu site did some reading checked the items
they said could stop the CD from booting. Everything OK. Turned off
antivirus also as suggested, in fact I removed it.

Next I tried to install it on Virtual Machine 2007. After some searching
I found a way to set the graphics from 24 to 16 and it worked. I
installed Ubnuntu and it's working on my VM so the CD must be good right?

I even downloaded a the file and re burnt another image. Thank the lord
for a highspeed connection. The same results. I have to think it's
something simple but so far the easy and simple Ubuntu has me stumped.
