Installer initiates when starting Word....

Hi,

Until now my Win2000Pro with Office 2000 Small business ed have been
working fine. But today I installed Norton Antivirus 2005, and ever
since that, whenever I start Word the Windows Installer dialog comes
up and starts 'Preparing to install' but then immediately is
interrupted by a Norton Antivirus dialog saying 'Norton AV 2005 does
not support the Repair feature, please uninstall and reinstall'.

What the heck is this now? Why does the Windows installer start and
what is it NAV can't cope with? What is it I should uninstall and
reinstall? Word? Office?

After clicking cancel about 4 times Word finally comes through and I
can begin to work.

But I can't have it like this every time I start Word.

What can I do?

Please advice...

Hi -

I was getting ready to post a question about the same problem. Exact
same symptoms. After I hit OKAY, Word opens without a problem ...

But will occur again the next time I open Word.

Any thoughts ? Anyone ?

Stupidly I forgot to google this error message the first time I
encountered it. Today I remembered and found a quick solution as
always. Check here, be sure to aslo read the non-Symantec way of
rectifying this (i.e. also Read their sticky post on the subject).

Genius.

You would think something as simple as the shortcuts on the start menu
wouldn't effect things but ... alas ... it does.

That was the quickest fix ever.

Thanks,

Damon
