Installing Office 97 on a new XP pc

Joe

I recently purchased a HP Pavilion, AMD Athlon 64
Processor 3200+. It came with a 60-day trial of Office
2003.

I still have an Office 97 disk (Professional Edition
w/certification - not an upgrade - labeled for
distribution with a new pc only) that came with a pc I
scrapped.

I tried to install Office 97 on the new pc when I
first got it but ran into problems with it running slow -
hang-ups, freezes, etc., so I freaked out, uninstalled it
and reluctantly started using the 60-day Trial version
that came preloaded - which is about to expire.

Can anyone layout the steps I can take to successfully
install Office 97 and get it functioning properly under
Windows XP Home Edition (Service Pack 2)?

Thanks,

Joe

You would have to uninstall O2003 prior to installing O97
However if O97 was supplied with another PC its likely an OEM version which
is only licensed to the pc it was supplied with.
You could however use the O97 cd to install an upgrade version of O2003
