Integrating MSProject with 3rd Party Web Access

I have had a client as the following

Can I use a 3rd party, web-based Project Management tool to create project plans (mostly at the deliverables level) and have it tie into MSProject where an administrator (or other such role) would maintain task level detail. This would empower my Project Managers to use a web based solution that they like and/or are familiar with, while allowing tasks to have detailed tracking in MSProject

If so, can we choose the third party solution or are there only specific ones that work with it? Are there other possible solutions

Thanks in advanc

Joel,

I suppose anything is possible ... it would help if this web-based
Project Management tool you mention already has inter-operability with
Microsoft Project. If not, you'll have to develop yourself, or sponsor
(pay for) this development. Probably not trivial.

Or, if you are looking around for 3rd party web-based solutions, then
seek one that has inter-operability with Project?

Has the client considered the Microsoft Project web-based products with
Project Server? Or does the web-based tool they wish to use have it's
how Microsoft Project equivalent?

Does the client think they want web-based becuase they feel they are
experts/familiar with web-based applications, like browsing the web? I
believe there may be more to making a "user-friendlly" tool than just
making it "web-based" (despite marketing claims to the contrary ...
isn't that one of the things that killed dot com?)
