internal error 2908

I recently ran into some trouble while running ms office xp
small business version 2002...I downloaded a file from a
friend's email. Now when I go to use office, I get a "MS
word has not been installed for the current user" error. I
have tried uninstalling and reinstalling. Upon reinstall,
I get an "error 2908 An internal error has occurred."
Anyone have any ideas?

Sigh... what was this "update" from a friend's email? Do you have a current
virus scanner with the latest updates installed?
