I have a workbook that has links from one worksheet to
another. This file has been emailed to several people for
each to make edits and return.
When some return, the links now reference a file local to
the sender which is no longer available.
so 'worksheet1'!B5 now reads 'C:\DOCUME~1\Temp\[Excel
sheet9-03.xls]'worksheet1'!B5
For some of those, I can do a find and replace to get rid
of the external reference
For others, I get an error that excel can't find the data
I'm searching for. I've tried using the links manager to
change the source, but I can't get it to accept a new
source. The only thing that works is going through and
manually deleting the external reference so I'm left with
just the worksheet name.
Does anyone have any idea what might cause this to happen
for some people and not others?
Because the temp directory was referenced in several
workbooks, I thought it might have something to do with
opening the file right from the email and THEN saving it..
but I each time I try to recreate that, it works fine.
Maybe there's a links preference somewhere that defaults
all links that get touched to external links??
Thanks for any help,
