International Send/Receive: POP3 & SMTP Issues in Brasil

Hey guys--

I just moved to Brasil and now am having difficulty sending and
receiving mail via my SBC Global Yahoo mail account and my macmail
account. I will describe the Yahoo problem below...

PROBLEM DESCRIPTION
Open Entourage 2004 for Mac
Click “Send/Receive Mail†button
Status bar says, “Connecting to pop.sbcglobal.yahoo.com†for 1
minute or so
ERROR: An operation on the server timed out. The server may be down,
overloaded, or there may be too much net traffic.

TROUBLESHOOTING SO FAR
Talked with Yahoo Support to change POP3 and SMTP settings as follows:
.. Name: Carl Winter
.. Email Address: MY ACCOUNT ID @ Yahoo.com
.. Account ID: MY ACCOUNT ID
.. POP3: pop.sbcglobal.yahoo.com
.. SMTP: smtp.sbcglobal.yahoo.com
.. ADVANCED SMTP: Checked box "SMTP server requires authentication--use
same settings..."

Visited help websites:
http://www.entourage.mvps.org/troubleshoot/send_receive/index.html and
http://www.entourage.mvps.org/troubleshoot/send_receive/traveling_light.html
and did recommended procedures.
Set up Hotmail account successfully. Sends and Receives JUST fine!

RELATED ISSUES:
Moved from California to Kansas before, changed SMTP server settings,
and was able to send and receive.
Set up Hotmail account successfully. Sends and Receives JUST fine!
Can connect to internet, but so far have not been able to successfully
sign in to MSN Messenger, Yahoo Messenger, OR Adium Messenger.

SYSTEM:
iBook G4
933 MHz
640 MB Ram
DSL connection: ~256kbps

This group is for Outlook.

Oops, my bad! You are in Entourage. Sorry about that ;-)

That's what happens when I post to several groups, cross-platform. I was
thinking I was in Outlook.

We do occasionally get Entourage questions in the Outlook group...
