Internet Explorer 7

I recently upgraded to IE 7. As a general rule it is working fine but for one
irritating little glitch.

It will not allow me to change my desktop icons from the traditional IE
'e' with my personal desktop icons.

I have gone through the Right Click, Change Icon, and browsed to my icons,
selected the icon then applied it and OK's out. But, the 'e' icon dominates
and will not allow the change to take place.

Any suggestions from the forum on a remedy?

Yes - post your question in the correct newsgroup. IE is not a part of
Office. There are some terrific MVPs that specialize in IE issues. :)
