Invalid Constraints

I've recently built a new project plan out of details from multiple other
plans. A problem that I've noticed is that constraints (Must Start/Finish No
Later Than) appear to be imposed. These are not valid in our planning model
where everything starts as soon as possible with standard task dependencies
introduced.

Has anyone seen anything like this and is there a way to prevent it? I
haven't been able to recreate, unfortunately, so I feel like I'm flying blind.

Hi mmoffitt55,

Constraints (Must Start On, Finish no Later Than) can be added (and removed)
fairly easily. If you copied and pasted a task from another file with the
constraint set, the constraint will carry through.

To remove or set constraints: double click on the task to show the Task
Information dialog box and on the Advanced Tab, set the constraint type. If
you are scheduling a project from a fixed start date (set in Project >
Project Information) to remove the constraint, set the constraint type back
to as soon as possible.

If there are a large number of constrained tasks, you can select the
multiple constrained tasks, click the Task Information button on the
Standard toolbar to show the Multiple Task Information dialog box and make
the change described above. Another option is to add the Constraint Type
field to a task table and change multiple tasks more easily.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Julie
