Invert a column of numbers

Wayne Burritt

Hi: I have a column of 100 numbers in a specific order. I need to invert
them. They are not in ascending or descending, order so the sort function
is out. Any ideas? thanks, Wayne

With your numbers in cells A1:A100, in B1 put 1, B2 put 2 and then fill down.
Select A1:B100 and sort on Col B selecting descending order. Delete Col B.

If you want a macro solution and they are text constants,
or at least not formulas see
http://www.mvps.org/dmcritchie/excel/join.htm#reversi

Ken's solution involves a helper column and use of the fill handle
http://www.mvps.org/dmcritchie/excel/fillhand.htm
The advantage being that you don't need to install or use any
macros as it is a strictly Excel solution..
