Invisible Usenet posts counted as unread

I have a pretty good filter blocking Usenet spam, but the blocked posts are
still being counted as "unread posts". Is this a future feature or am I
doing something wrong?

doing something wrong?

Probably neither. First of all, what exactly do you mean by a " filter
blocking Usenet spam"? In Entourage terms, do you have a News rule that
"Does not show article" if newsgroup posts meet some criteria? That's about
he best you can do. It's perfectly true that these articles are on the news
server and are unread by you, so , yes, they will still appear in the
"unread count", I guess. Just add another action to "Change Status" to
"Read" and that should take care of it. Is that what you're looking for? You
might as well add one more action to "Do Not Notify" so you won't be puzzled
by mysterious tinkling if unread, unshown articles are the only ones to be
added.

If, for some reason, this isn't good enough, it's unlikely to ever be a
"future feature". MS Mac unit have gone on record, many times, reiterating
that news is very low priority for Entourage. Most likely the only new
features you see here are ones that news share with mail.
