Yes, I get this all the time. So badly that I had to switch back to Outlook
on Windows. It would freeze Entourage for 3 minutes for every email message
that was received. This was unacceptable.
I figured out that Entourage has a very poor architecture that requires it
to read the ENTIRE database into the system's memory before it can append an
email message to the database. This is stupid, especially for people like
me with 4GB + databases and three years worth of email and attachments
stored.
Hopefully the next version of Entourage does away with this stupid
architecture, or else this product won't work in the enterprise space where
people have to have their email available for years at a time.
