Is Entourage right for me?

Hi

I currently run Outlook 2003 on my home PC and use an ipaq to sync
between that and my work PCs Outlook 2003 account.

I've just bought an iMac and so want to use that to manage my life
instead of the PC. I've tried the Parallels approach with Outlook on a
virtual PC but the ipaq won't synch via active synch.

So now I'm trying to do what I wanted to do from the start ie: synch my
ipaq directly to the Mac and that seems a lot more possible. However, I
understand that Entourage has superceded Outlook on the Mac - - no
problem in itself - it looks good and will apparently do all Outlook
does.

My question is this. Can I have Entourage on the Mac, synchronise it
via the ipaq and still have it"talk" to Outlook 2003 on the work PC?
Which synch software would you suggest?

Thanks

Simon

Hi Simon,

welcome to the Mac! Just one warning before we get started: even though
Entourage and Outlook have a lot in common, they are not the same, so don't
expect every feature in Entourage to work the same way it worked in Outlook.

Anyway, yes, it should be possible to synchronise your iPaq with Entourage;
to do that, however, you will need to buy "The Missing Sync for Windows
Mobile", available here:
<http://www.markspace.com/missingsync_windowsmobile.php>. Make sure your
iPaq model is compatible with it, then follow the instructions provided with
the software to get it to sync. I can't give you any further details as I've
never used a PocketPC, but maybe someone else can in case you run into
problems.

Also, generally speaking, it may very well be possible to synchronise your
iPaq with two computers at the same time, but if I remember correctly from
those days when I was using a Palm Pilot, it is not really recommended as
your data might get mixed up. mark/space, the company which produces The
Missing Sync, might be able to tell you more about it, but in case you
decide to sync with both computers, always make sure you have a backup copy
of your data in case a sync goes terribly wrong. Follow the procedure
mentioned on this website (for Entourage):

Thanks very much Michel. The mark/space website says that I can sync
between multiple computers, but I've emailed them just to check.

And yes, I back up fanatically!

Anybody else got any experience of this?

Simon
