Is it okay to install Office 2000 and Office XP on the same computer?

A client prefers that I do their assignments in Office
2000 to avoid problems with sharing documents among users
with different software versions.

I would prefer to install Office XP on my new PC (XP), I
think. Is it feasible to have two installations with
different versions of Office on one PC? Or is that
inviting more headaches?

You can have more than one version on a single partition but you must take
care to:

Install the Oldest first (Office 2000),
Install the latest to a separate directory,
Realize that only one version of Outlook will run in that partition,
Select a custom installation for each installation,
Patch the oldest installation before installing the newer one,
Then patch the newest installation.

And remember that all file associations will be with the newer version

So can I assume MS Office 2000 will work on Win XP
Professional?

I want to upgrade from Win 2000 Pro to Win XP Pro and want
to make sure I can still use Office 2000.

Thanks!
