Is it possible to disable wkdetect? If so how?

I manually update my computer on a regular basis and I do not want wkdetect
to run. But, I can not find a way to disable it. Any help would be
appreciated.

Hi,
If you mean the automatic updates feature, double click the Security Center
Icon
on the Control Panel and turn off Automatic updates.

wkdetect is part of MS Office and not a part of automatic updates. Automatic
updates is turned off. wk detect is in the running processes section. I can
not find a corresponding item in administrative services to shut it down. I
do not know how to disable wkdetect.

Thank you for your reply.

Hi Ironpants,

Well, actually WkDetect is part of MS Works :) although MS PictureIt!
and MS Digital Imaging may also use it. It checks for updates online.

Check with the folks in the MS Works newsgroup (MS Works Suite includes
MS Word), link below, and include the version of Microsoft Works you're
using as listed in Add/Remove Programs in the Windows control panel.
