Is there a Powerpoint 2000 upgrade to attach mp3 music?

I have XP, my MS Office is 2000. I want to make a presentation using
powerpoint and attach mp3 music. I also have MS Plus Photo Story, however it
doesn't have background options such as PP has. PP can only read .wav files.
Is there an update I can purchase to allow me to attach mp3 music to my PP
presentation?
