is there a symbol for average??

pleasehelpme

i can't find a symbol for average or mean of a number (x, with a line over
top) in Word 2000.

Have you looked in Equation Editor? The sixth button on the lower layer of
icons is overbar and underbar characters.

To get EqEd, go to Insert > Object and Select Microsoft Equation 3.0.

Yes, and x-bar is a perfect example of using Word's AutoCorrect
to insert objects created with EE. I have a tutorial about this

Yes, but it's not installed by default (i.e., with a standard
installation -- you need to do a custom installation to get it).
There have been numerous responses recently describing how to
install EE if it's not already installed. A newsgroup search
should turn up the instructions.

One way is to insert an { EQ \o (x,¯)} field. The ¯ character is created by
holding down the Alt key while you type 0175 from the numeric keypad on your
keyboard (don't use the top row of number keys).
