In Excel, there is a property, application.UserControl, that indicates if
Excel was started by the user or programmatically.

Is there a way in PowerPoint to determine if the application was started by
the user or programmatically?

What's the purpose in determining if it was opened programmatically? You
can still quit the application programmatically through the original code.
