Hello there,
New Mac user, new Entourage user. I originally used Outlook 2000 on
Windows. In that version, I could keep all of my different addresses in
folders. (Business contacts in one folder, friends in another, etc.) I
could export a given folder to a text or excel file. In Entourage, it
seems that all of my addresses are in one place and then sorted by
category. How do I make selected addresses export, instead of exporting
my entire address book?
I'm not quite sure what the two issues (separating contacts in separate
folders vs. exporting them) have to do with each other.
You can separate contacts by category into separate views by making custom
views for contacts of each category if you wish.
File/New/Custom View
Items Types: ˆ Contacts [only]
Criteria:
Category Is <Whatever>
Then if you want to export them, you can go to each category-based custom
view, select all, and drag to a folder on your desktop. (Actually, you could
simply sort the Address Book by Category, by clicking on the Categories
column, then select all contacts of a particular category by shift-clicking
the top and bottom contact of that category to select all in between, and
drag the selection to the folder on your desktop.)
Either method will export a set of vCards (.vcf files) - is that what you
mean by "export"? Or do you simply want the name and email address - or
what? You can use my shareware Export-Import Entourage scripts, from
MacScripter.net <

to export contacts by category, or by selection, to a tab text file, and
open that in Excel to remove columns (fields) you're not interested in, and
re-save.
