Is there a way to paste test into a PPT table from Excel and not copyExcel formatting?

Every time I paste from Excel into a PowerPoint table, it changes all the formatting to the Excel formatting. I want to keep the PowerPoint formattingand just paste the Excel values. Any way to do this? Seems like it should be straightforward since so many people do this task.

You can paste as a picture, but you cannot edit the values
