Is there a way to write image metadata from Access?

I am writing an Access 2000 application for an international photographic
competition. For digital image entries (normally TIFF or JPEG), I would like
to be able to write an EntryID number into the image metadata. Does anyone
here have any idea how I might be able to achieve this?

I'm guessing that the metadata would have to be written by some third-party
software, initiated by VBA code attached to an Access form.
