await Kim K .,.and Best B .,.for responce .,.,I have tryed the link to get
rid of any office 2007 that was on my p.c .,.got this p.c in feb of 2009
..,.,.so I did this .,.,I looked on some backburner sight well this one .,.the
next step is to ask microsoft at like 49.00 bucks to help me get my already

it once and then pay to get it to work is just not correct .,.if anyone has a
link for this 1608 error please respond.,.it calls for a version of windows
97,2000 or xp to be on my vista windows for it to work .,.thanks for any

Perhaps if you were to post the origonal problem, with any exact err msgs,
rather than go off on a tangent someone might be able to help.
Trying to see through your post, if you have failed to remove any Trial
version of Office 2007 prior to installing a paid for version, you will have
problems

Hi ,yes I did talk of side issues, the trial version oofice 2007 was removed
first then the office standard 2003 was inserted in the drawer all I get is
the error listed 1608 it calls for a version of office 97,2000or xp to be on
this vista windows .,.so error 1608 as previously mentioned is the problem

That means you have an upgrade version of Office 2003 and as such the
installation could not locate a qualifying version
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315995

You need to locate your old disk for Office 97, 2000 or 2002 (OfficeXP),
then insert that disk, and browse to the location (CD Drive), once accepted,
swap disk with the 2003 disk, and continue the installation

thanks D.L this sounds good ,the only disc I have ever had with the last p.c
is a systems recovery CD/DVD for xp .,.think this would work ?

No it wont
Presumably your old PC was supplied preinstalled with Works, which was a
qualifying application. You need to search your old cd's to see if you have
a Works cd that was supplied with that PC

If you dont have such a cd then either you would need to purchase a
qualifying cd, from some used supplier, or would need to buy a version of
Office 2007. Office H&S is the cheapest version, but it doesnt include
outlook.
Or you could use OpenOffice, which is a free download

nothing else .,.,and it went through like 4and 4 mother boards and power
supplys luckily I had the warrenty and it covered all the ups trucks and I
was working then ,.,.( never thought I would need to get a p.c when I was
swinging a sledge and hard wrk but Job said so for the epa squad they also
had me on once a month or so for like a hour and a home study input ) .,.and
