Is this even possible?

Hey Found this cool site, figured I'd see if anyone knows if this i
possible.
I've got a spreadsheet that has lots and lots of numbers in it. I kno
how to make Excel tell me how many times that number has come up, but
also need to see if Excel can tell me how often it comes up.
All the numbers are in a table about 7 columns wide and about 200 row
deep. And lets say for example I want to see when the number 8
appears, and how long it went before appearing before that, and make
list of times it went before coming up again.
EX:
9/7/04 - 23 - 43 - 67 - 25 - 89 - 99
9/6/04 - 34 - 35 - 67 - 75 - 81 - 82
9/5/04 - 45 - 03 - 05 - 45 - 25 - 12
9/4/04 - 10 - 38 - 81 - 32 - 20 - 07

My table looks something like this, and if I wanted to map out ho
often person, or number 81 came up, how would I do this? Have not foun
a way to do this in Excel yet. Would make my life easier because at th
moment, I am counting the number of rows, and manually entering th
numbers. (What a pain)

Thanks

one way is to make a helper column with the possible numbers.

say you data is in columns b - g and rows 2 - 31
add below in column "I2"
1
2
3
4
etc...

use the "Countif" function for the column /rows that contain the data that
you wish to count in column "J2" and drag down.
When you have your range selected on the function wizard if you would press
the "F4" to eliminate any need of sorting.

Hope this helps.
