Issues between Outlook 2000 and Word 2003

When trying to open the address book using Word 2003, I get this error:

Address book failure: "unspecified error". Check your mail setup. You
must have extended MAPI Version 1.0 or higher to use this feature.

The address books are stored on our Exchange server within each person's
mailbox. Outlook 2000 is our default mail program, since 2003 has caused
issues with our server setup. Has anyone else had this problem, and if you
have fixed it, please explain how.

I have exactly the same error message. I cannot e.g. send a file from the
desktop by right clicking and choosing "Send to Mail Recipient"

I have Outlook 2002 SP3 and Word 2003 SP1 running on a XP Pro box and get the
same error when trying to open address book from Word. Try this link, but
you'll have to call Microsoft to get them to send you the Hotfix link and a
password. Read this doc carefully because there is always a later
Hotfix...... It didn't work for me in the end.
