IVApplication::get_ConnectorToolDataObject throwing exception.

I am trying to connect two masters using the
ConnectorToolDataObject property of IVApplication per the samples but
get_ConnectorToolDataObject is throwing an exception. Would someone please
explain to me what the secret is or how I should connect the two shapes? I
have added the
Organization Chart.vst and Organization Chart Shapes.vss to the document
collection.
